Crunched is a fast-growing AI startup backed by Y Combinator, building the world's best Excel AI analyst. Crunched builds autonomous AI systems that operate inside Excel - automating analysis, modelling and financial workflows without breaking how people already work. Already used by professionals at BCG, Nordover Capital, INSEAD, Harvard, Explore, Arkwright, Connaught and Placepoint. Audit is our next big strategic bet - we are going to automate the entire audit workflow, end to end. We are hiring an audit domain expert to lead that push from the front.

The role

This is a product development role at the intersection of audit and technology. You will work both internally with our tech team and externally with customers, tailoring and building real audit workflows.

You will be company-leading in the development of our largest new focus area. Audit is where we are placing our next big bet, and this person owns how it is built.

What that looks like day to day:

Translate how great auditors actually work - reconciliations, sampling, substantive testing, working papers, documentation and review - into systems our AI can replicate flawlessly
Build bespoke workflows together with customers, on-site and in their processes
Work directly with the tech team to turn field insight into shipped product
Design evaluations and stress-test outputs against real audit standards
Set the quality bar for what "good" means in automated audit work

This is a day-to-day audit role, not a role away from audit. You will spend your time deep inside audit workflows - but building them, not just performing them.

Who you are

You have solid audit experience from a recognised firm and genuinely enjoy audit work. You are precise, structured and comfortable defending a judgement call. You are curious about AI and what it can do for the profession.

Two profiles fit this role particularly well:

The audit-tech builder. Several years of audit experience, and today partly or fully involved in AI or product development for the audit function (common in the Big 4, PwC in particular).
The auditor who moved on. Audit experience followed by a step into a more lucrative path such as investment banking or corporate finance - and who now wants to come back and rebuild the profession itself.

In short:

Several years in audit, preferably from a Big 4 or a recognised audit firm
Strong understanding of audit workflows, documentation standards and working papers
Exposure to AI, automation or product work within audit is a strong plus
Exceptional attention to detail - you dive deep into problems
Excellent Excel skills
Comfortable working directly with customers as well as engineers
Thrive with a lot of responsibility and ownership

One thing matters more than pedigree: you have to genuinely want to work with audit day to day. This role is built for someone who wants to stay in the domain and change it.
