Dintero is building the infrastructure for the future of payments in the Nordics. We develop and operate the entire platform ourselves – from checkout and acquiring to settlement and risk. With 150M+ API calls per month and real regulatory complexity, we combine deep technical ownership with real-world impact.
 

We are now looking for a Data Scientist to take ownership of how Dintero uses data across the business. This is a broad, high-impact role that spans self-service analytics, advanced analysis, data architecture, and risk.
 

About the Role

This is not a plug-into-an-existing-team role. You will be responsible for building up the data function at Dintero – shaping how the entire company thinks about and uses data. You will work at the intersection of product, engineering, operations, and risk, and you need to be senior enough to drive this independently.
 

Ideal for someone who is as comfortable advising stakeholders as they are designing technical systems.
 

What You Will Do
 

Democratise Analytics

Enable Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to conduct their own analysis independently. Build self-service tools, dashboards, and documentation that empower non-technical stakeholders to extract meaningful insights – and provide the training and support to help teams become genuinely data-proficient.
 

Set the Gold Standard for Analytics

Establish best practices for analytics and data communication across Dintero. Define standards for data quality, analysis methodology, and insight presentation. Create frameworks and guidelines that ensure consistency and rigor across the organisation.
 

Perform Advanced Analytics

Identify high-impact optimisation opportunities aligned with company strategy. Collaborate closely with Product teams to conduct deep-dive analyses in key business areas, developing data-driven recommendations for product improvements and business optimisations.
 

Architect Dintero's Data Stack

Design the technical architecture to meet Dintero's evolving data needs. Evaluate tools, platforms, and technologies that support analytics and data operations. Create architectural plans that balance scalability, performance, and business requirements.
 

Implement Data Architecture

Work with Engineering to execute the architectural roadmap – breaking down large initiatives into smaller, deliverable components that provide incremental value while staying aligned with the overall vision.
 

Risk Dashboard & Payments Risk Analytics

Take a leading role in designing and developing Dintero's risk dashboards and operational risk analytics:

• Understand risk operational requirements across payment schemes, with card scheme rules as the foundational framework for risk management

• Collaborate closely with Risk and Compliance, ensuring outputs fulfil compliance with scheme rules, regulatory requirements, and internal risk appetite

• Facilitate workshops with Risk Agents to capture operational and practical requirements, ensuring dashboards and analytical tools reflect real-world workflows
   

Tech Stack

Dintero's platform runs on:

• Cloud: AWS (Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora)

• Architecture: Microservices, API-first

• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript

• Infrastructure: Infrastructure as Code
   

For the data function, you will evaluate and shape the stack. Relevant technologies include tools like Hex, dbt, Snowflake, Looker, Airflow, or similar – but the specific choices will be yours to make.
 

What We Are Looking For

• Solid experience in data science, analytics engineering, or a closely related role

• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language for data analysis (e.g. Python or R)

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools

• Familiarity with modern data stack technologies

• Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences

• Senior enough to work independently and drive decisions without a dedicated data team around you

• Experience working in or alongside payments, fintech, or a regulated financial services environment is a strong advantage

• Knowledge of payment scheme rules, risk frameworks, or compliance requirements is a plus

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
