MUNU – Software Engineer (Oslo)
Munu is looking for a Software Engineer with a strong data and database background to join the team behind Munu Cloud Core – the platform at the heart of everything Munu builds. Based in Oslo or Stavanger.
Munu is a Nordic-built restaurant and hospitality platform that connects POS, booking, analytics, inventory, online ordering, kitchen display (KDS) and payments in one cloud-based system. Built by hospitality experts, Munu helps restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels and large venues across the Nordics run smoother, faster and more profitably – from fine dining floors to festival grounds. About the role
Munu Cloud Core is the core of the Munu platform. It holds the business logic and the databases that every Munu product is built around – POS, Booking, Analytics, Order & Takeaway, KDS and Integrations. When Core works well, everything works well.
You will join a small, experienced team and work hands-on with the data and logic that thousands of hospitality locations rely on every day.
Typical work includes:
-
developing and improving business logic and data models in a large relational database (Oracle, SQL / PL/SQL)
-
building and maintaining integrations between Munu Cloud Core and the rest of the platform
-
working with configuration and data flows driven from the user interface
-
improving performance, data quality and stability in a system that runs 24/7
-
working in Azure as the platform evolves
How we work
We are an AI-first engineering team. Our engineers spend relatively little time writing code directly: AI coding agents (primarily Claude, as well as OpenAI and Gemini models) do a large share of the implementation. That makes the specific tech stack less important – and your engineering judgement more important.
We are continuously experimenting with AI across engineering and exploring what it makes possible. We want people who thrive in an AI-heavy environment and are excited to help shape how we work as Munu grows quickly.
That means being able to orchestrate AI agents effectively: break problems down, give agents the right context, and critically review, test and verify what they produce. Strong fundamentals in data, algorithms and system design are what make that possible.
We are looking for someone who
-
has 3+ years of experience as a software engineer
-
has a degree in computer science or a similar technical field
-
is strong in SQL and has hands-on experience with relational databases
-
has worked a lot with data – data modelling, data engineering, data flows (this is not a data science role)
-
uses AI coding tools daily and knows how to quality-check their output
-
has a solid mathematical and algorithmic understanding
-
is curious, eager to learn, and takes ownership
-
communicates well in English (Norwegian is a plus)
Nice to have
-
Oracle and PL/SQL
-
Azure
-
.NET / C#
-
Experience with integrations and APIs
-
Experience from SaaS, fintech or other transaction-heavy systems
Location
The role can be based in Oslo or Stavanger. Much of the team sits in Stavanger, and if you are based in Oslo you will travel to Stavanger at least once a month – somewhat more often during onboarding.
